JANUS STARK + OSIRIS + TIEMPO CURA

27th September 2002
Like Emmerdale Farm the producers of Peterborough based band Janus Stark have realised that they are totally different to the first episode so a name change is needed. In terms of being the only original cast member lead singer and former Prodigy guitarist Gizz Butt must surely be Joe Sugden.

Last Friday at The Park crowds witnessed Janus Stark’s last ever gig in their hometown prior to changing their name to The More I See ushering in an age of a heavier direction. The two support bands weren’t exactly to mine or many of the older fans' taste. However in my case it may be because I’m becoming more like my Father and have started quoting his favourite phrases of my teenage years such as “You call that music?” and “That’s not singing that’s shouting”.

Prior to Janus Stark taking to the stage all of the band members except for Gizz could be seen milling around interacting with the audience. The band took to the stage some fifteen minutes later than expected and began with a rendition of the Funeral March, but where was Gizz? Everything was explained when a team of pall bearers carried a coffin on stage and out burst Gizz resplendent in Egyptian Mummy style bandages to play the first song proper of the performance. His penchant for dressing up harks back to the earlier days of Janus Stark when the whole band was resplendent in Boiler Suits and Gas Masks and shows that he hasn’t gone as serious as he treats his music.

This gig allowed Janus Stark to bow out in style and on a high, playing their tunes the way they used to be until “the pop fell out and the rock set in”, allowing a one manned stage invasion for former Kerrang! Single Of The Week “Every Little Thing Counts”, a cover of Black Sabbath’s “Paranoid” and an example of the bravest ever drummer in the whole world.
