KING ADORA15th October 2000 Many new bands nowadays fail to cut the mustard due to a missing piece in the jigsaw, they just don't have what it takes to be up there, performing at the highest level that's possible. King Adora on the other hand do, they are made up of all the key ingredients that every successful band should have. In frontman Matt Browne they have a quiet shy vocalist (when talking to his audience), though give him a drum count of four and he fires up like a classic car, all powerful with plenty of umph in the engine room, but plenty of finesse in the body work. Matt's also great to look at, with wild two tone hair, make-up that many women would die for, and a totally outlandish taste in clothing.Performing a half hour set, King Adora's material was strong, powerful and very ballsy. Littered with influential little traits from their role models a la Bolan, Bowie and, more recently, Suede. The inclusion of the tracks "Bionic" and "The Law", which were released as a double A-side (reached No. 10 in the indie charts), went down well though it was "Smoulder" (receiving loads of play on Radio 1) that got The Park shaking. It is King Adora's answer to T. Rex's "20th Century Boy." King Adora release their debut album in 2001 and will no doubt be the talking point of all music fans up and down the country for m,any months to follow. Spencer Hart, Peterborough Live. |
